Welcome
We have two delightful
stone-built, self-catering cottages to let in the tranquil rural setting of southwest Arran,
in a commanding yet secluded location above the Kilbrannan Sound, on the
upper slopes of the Corriecravie Valley.

The Hayshed Cottage and
Ploughman's Bothy, with names indicative of their former use, are located
on Ivy Cottage Farm, one of Arran's traditional sea-farms, some four miles
south of Blackwaterfoot, and a quarter mile seawards on a well-maintained stone track
running along the Sliddery/Corriecravie boundary.
Both cottages have been
converted to a high standard and offer a comfortable, well-equipped and
secluded base for your Arran holiday. They are broadly similar in internal
layout and dimensions; the Hayshed (the one with the gable end) is lighter
in décor and furnishing; the Bothy, with its dark leather furniture and
original stone wall with fireplace, has a more traditional feel. The
ground floors are both open-plan, with an attractive spiral staircase to
the upper bedrooms.
The cottages are ideal for
couples, small families or for anyone just wanting to get away from it all and
relax and unwind, away from the mainland bustle.
The owners live on the
site, and are available to assist you in any way they can during your
stay, while of course respecting your privacy. The cottages face onto
their own separate courtyard, for access and parking.
An item of note in our
rural environment is the large Reedbed we have installed and planted at
the bottom of our home field. This is fed with the effluent from the site
septic tank, and the reeds metabolise this nutrient source, giving a much
cleaner end-product which meets, even exceeds, the stringent requirements
of the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency. Your stay here should
therefore have no detrimental effect on either land or adjacent
watercourses!
Please note that, for the safety and wellbeing of all, a strict No Smoking policy
applies throughout
both cottages.
