The Blacksmith’s Bothy – A Rural Retreat at Arran Far Horizons

The Blacksmith’s Bothy offers guests a peaceful and scenic getaway on the Isle of Arran. With breathtaking views across the Kilbrannan Sound to Kintyre, it’s the perfect location for those seeking relaxation and natural beauty. Originally the site of a working forge and blacksmith’s quarters, the Bothy has been thoughtfully rebuilt on new foundations, blending its rich history with modern comforts.

As part of the Arran Far Horizons collection of cottages, The Blacksmith’s Bothy offers a cozy  retreat for up to four guests, making it ideal for small families or couples. The interior features warm oak furnishings, leather lounge furniture and a wood-burning stove that for a welcoming atmosphere. Electric heating also ensures a comfortable stay, whatever the season.

Upon entering through a beautiful double oak door with glass panels, you’ll find the open-plan lounge/dining area, which is a perfect space for relaxing or entertaining. A circular oak dining table with four chairs sits beside one of the large sea-facing windows, providing the ideal setting for meals with a view of the surrounding landscape. The compact kitchen is fully equipped for a self-catered stay, with an LPG gas hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge with icebox, washer/dryer, and dishwasher, ensuring you have everything you need for a comfortable stay.

The ground floor also features a spacious bathroom with a bath, shower, WC, washbasin, and heated towel rail. Upstairs, a beautiful oak spiral staircase leads to two comfortable bedrooms, each furnished with oak furniture. One bedroom offers a king-size double bed, and the other has twin beds, both designed for maximum comfort. The upstairs also includes a snug toilet with a washbasin, conveniently located between the two bedrooms.

Outside, The Blacksmith’s Bothy enjoys its own enclosed garden with a sitting-out area, perfect for enjoying the peaceful surroundings that Arran Far Horizons is known for. A flight of steps leads up to the garden, which also features a washing-drier for your convenience. Guests of The Blacksmith’s Bothy can enjoy all the tranquillity of a private retreat, while still being part of the Arran Far Horizons experience.
